If you are interested in getting involved in the Navigation Lab as an undergraduate student, graduate student, or postdoc, please contact the lab director Dr. Jonathan Kelly.

Please browse through the descriptions of current lab projects (see “Projects” link on the left) to get a feel for what we do and where your interests might fit in. I am open to advising students with interests in psychology and/or human-computer interaction.

Undergraduate Students (Psych 491):

We are currently looking for new undergraduate research assistants. Research experience is essential for undergraduates considering graduate school. As an undergraduate research assistant in the Navigation Lab, you will gain experience with data collection and experimental design, and you will also have opportunities to work with our virtual reality system.

Prerequisites for undergraduate research assistants:

  • Psychology 301
  • Junior or Senior standing
  • Minimum 2.5 GPA
  • Successful completion of a cognitive course (310, 312, 313, 316)

If you meet the above prerequisites and are interested in joining the Navigation Lab as an undergraduate research assistant, please send an e-mail to jonkelly@iastate.edu.

Graduate Students:

Please review the Psychology Department’s admissions standards and procedures. If you are interested in applying for graduate school, you are encouraged to contact Dr. Kelly prior to submitting your application to ensure that we are currently accepting new graduate students.
